Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate yard trucks to move trailers within the yard and dock areas, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and yard supervisors to coordinate trailer movements.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while operating yard trucks.
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard inventory.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on yard trucks, such as refueling and checking fluid levels.
  • Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to maintenance staff or supervisors.
  • Assist with other duties as needed, such as general warehouse tasks or equipment operation.

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience operating yard trucks or similar heavy equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of safe driving practices and backing maneuvers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical fitness to climb in and out of yard trucks multiple times per shift and perform manual tasks as needed.
