Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Peoria, Illinois. As a Senior Level Diesel Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our truck fleet and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
  • Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • All other certification as required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
