Mainframe Zos/RACF Administrator Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Zos/RACF Administrator to join our team at Tata Consultancy Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and maintaining our mainframe systems, ensuring the security and integrity of our data.

Main Responsibilities:
  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain z/OS software, including SMP/e Level 3 Knowledge, and troubleshoot BAU issues.
  • Security Administration: Oversee RACF security administration, maintaining accounts to control access to information and applications, and analyze and resolve problems related to mainframe access control.
  • User Administration: Manage user administration, including removing, granting group access or dataset access using CLIST, manual process through TSO RACF or through JCL.
  • Database Security: Create and maintain RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS databases security, including granting access to DB auth ids, functional ids, groups, etc.
  • Access Management: Work with customers and stakeholders to define access requirements and design access models (Roles, Groups, etc), and focus on Mainframe security issues regarding RACF assessment and remediation.
  • Incident Resolution: Resolve issues arise due to new security implementations, work and resolve access issues and incidents related to RACF and updates to RACF tables and provisions.
  • Auditing and Compliance: Assist in resolving RACF related issues and support in Auditing of security requirements, and work on all maintenance and Operational activities.
Requirements:
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge in z/OS, JES2, TSO/ISPF, DFSMS, VTAM, RACF, RMF, SMF, FT, SFTP, and commands, as well as experience with various z/Architectures.
  • Experience: Proven track record of running/administering mainframe servers, experience in HMC console monitoring, master console monitoring, and VTAM monitoring, and experience in monitoring and administration tools like TMON, Omegamon, Mainview, SYSView.
  • Education and Certifications: ITIL v3 Practitioner certification and a strong understanding of mainframe security and operations.
