About the Role

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer Project Manager III to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for providing project management and leadership for major capital improvement projects.

Job Summary

This role requires a professional engineer license in the State of Texas or licensure in another state with reciprocity. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in project management of engineering design and construction activities for renovations and new construction of institutional or commercial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams to achieve common goals and successful project delivery
  • Provide professional direction for project teams
  • Mentor and guide PM staff with less experience
  • Develop project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Track project budgets and schedules
  • Procure services of Professional Service Providers (PSPs) and Construction teams
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Stay current with legislation, building codes, building materials, and methods
  • Learns and maintains awareness of project safety requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Texas or licensure in another state with reciprocity
  • 5+ years of experience in project management of engineering design and construction activities
  • Working knowledge of contract documents (plans, specifications)
  • Experience obtaining construction bids and negotiating construction contracts
  • Working knowledge of life safety and building codes
  • Experience using Excel, Microsoft Word, and scheduling software such as MS Project

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the engineering field
  • Experience managing design and construction for projects in a higher education setting
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification

Salary and Benefits
