We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Shelter Monitor to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our shelter operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, volunteers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and participate in the day-to-day operations of a shelter facility, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Check residents into the housing facility, administer breathalyzer tests, and maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Orient new residents to the program, prepare case records, and record daily statistics.
- Ensure clients comply with house rules, complete incident reports, and notify supervisors of any special circumstances.
- Prepare and maintain various logs, records, and statistical reports reflecting program activities and occupancy levels.
- Monitor resident activities in the Day Shelter, ensuring safety and compliance with shelter rules.
- Plan, schedule, and assign daily chores to clients, ensuring compliance with shelter rules.
- Supervise and participate in cleaning and maintenance of facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Operate and maintain laundry room equipment, maintain cleanliness and sanitation of shelter lines, and wash, fold, and store shelter linens.
- Plan, prepare, cook, and serve breakfast and dinner meals in accordance with established guidelines and schedules.
- Conduct shelter meetings, devotions, and group activities with clients as requested by supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years' experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public.
- Valid Driver's License for off-site donation pick-ups preferred.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors, with frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, bending, or squatting. May be required to work at night or in low-light conditions.
