Job Summary

ALLETE is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our team. As an Engineering Intern, you will provide support to our engineering staff on various projects, including capital and operational projects, system troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support to engineering staff on capital and operational projects, system troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Project assignments will be primarily associated with coal ash, waste, water management, boiler, turbine generator, hydroelectric equipment, wind turbines, solar power equipment, and environmental facilities at the generation facilities.
  • Project management, interaction with contractors and consultants, utilization of spreadsheets, word processing software, and other office programs to manage data and create reports.
  • Construction oversight of contractor's activities.
Requirements
  • Must currently be enrolled in a two-year technical degree program in Pre-Engineering or Engineering with an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.
  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027.
  • Preferred majors include: Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as occasional travel may be required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software is preferred.
  • Candidates may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, or aptitude.
Work Environment

This internship will report in person to our office. The role is anticipated to begin in May/June 2025. The internship will be full-time during the summer with the possibility of extending to a part-time basis during academic terms up until graduation. ALLETE will comply with college requirements. Hours and duration are subject to change based on company needs.
