Product Quality Specialist

Position Overview
This role is pivotal in overseeing and enhancing product quality within the Melt Shop Department, ensuring that the product characteristics align with the objectives of North American Stainless.

Occasionally, additional responsibilities may be assigned to optimize throughput and reduce costs in the designated areas.

Collaboration with the Cost of Quality Engineer - Yield will be essential to elevate overall plant yield.

Projects will also align with the business improvement objectives of the NAS/Acerinox group.


Key Responsibilities


Conduct comprehensive reviews of quality across assigned sectors, ensuring that defined targets are established for all product lines.


Evaluate quality metrics to guarantee that North American Stainless produces a high-quality product at the most efficient cost while meeting both internal and external delivery timelines.


Monitor the quality of all product lines to ensure compliance and facilitate continuous enhancement in quality and productivity.

Assess existing Work Instructions to confirm they adequately detail the necessary actions for producing an acceptable product.

Initiate and oversee continuous improvement initiatives, tracking their progress diligently.

Implement corrective and preventive measures to mitigate the recurrence of issues.

Encourage teamwork to support various quality enhancement projects.

Utilize team dynamics to educate personnel in team building, consensus development, and problem-solving techniques.


Review any New Product or Major Product/Process Change Forms submitted within your areas of responsibility to ensure that changes do not negatively affect quality.

Track all New Product or Major Product/Process Changes to confirm adherence to the Quality System.

Ensure that all Health, Safety, and Environmental considerations are thoroughly addressed.


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum of a four-year technical degree from an accredited University/College (BS/BA) or equivalent work experience necessary to fulfill the role.
