About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and book-loving individual to join our team as a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble. As a Bookseller, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for customers, engaging with them, and sharing your knowledge of books to make relevant recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of books, authors, and genres to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Execute bookstore basics, including presentation, commerciality, section detail, localization, and sense of theater, to create a vibrant and inviting store environment.
  • Leverage key campaigns, such as Our Monthly Picks and pre-orders, to hand sell and engage with customers.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and knowledge to support the store and provide customers with a great experience.
  • Identify key titles and communicate with the store team to tailor the merchandise selection to reflect the community.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including creating displays and ensuring the bookstore is always shoppable and inviting.
  • Assist with events and community outreach initiatives.
  • Protect company assets by adhering to all processes in controlling shrink, expense, and payroll.
  • Model expected behaviors to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Possess a passion for books and a strong knowledge of literature.
  • Exhibit a positive and can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Enjoy working with people and have excellent communication skills.
  • Be energized by working in an ever-changing environment and be able to adapt to new situations.
  • Have a strong ability to listen and solve problems effectively.
