Radiation Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality radiation services to patients.

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the provision of radiation services to patients according to physicians' orders, ensuring patient safety and high-quality treatment. This includes utilizing radiological equipment, maintaining equipment, and verifying accuracy of tumor localization.

1. Proficiently utilize radiological equipment, including CT scanners, OBI, CBCT, portal imagers, Linear accelerators, and HDR, and assist in maintaining equipment in the department.
2. Set up instructions, including field size, distance, focal points, treatment devices, patient position, immobilization devices, and photographs, to be reproduced in the treatment suite.
3. Assist in positioning patients in the appropriate treatment position and immobilize their position with the necessary technique or device, and verify accuracy of tumor localization with radiation oncologists via x-rays according to physician's orders and treatment plans.
4. Take and note necessary measurements, contours, and photographs needed for dosimetry calculations and treatment reproduction.
5. Maintain own proficiency through in-service programs, workshops, seminars, and other self-directed learning activities, and apply principles of radiation safety in the performance of any exam involving x-rays.
6. Possess specialized knowledge of sterile technique and its application in invasive procedures performed in the department.

Associates Degree or equivalent and a Graduate of an accredited or registered school of Radiation Therapy. 1-3 years of related experience. A.R.R.T certification in the State of Texas.
