Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in utility accounting or finance, or public accounting. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work in the utility regulatory industry and be willing to expand their knowledge, skills, and experience performing routine to highly complex accounting work.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze utility reports, accounting records, contracts, and other pertinent information for compliance with accounting standards, state laws, and Commission regulations.
- Prepare written recommendations with attention to mathematical accuracy of financial calculations, wording precision, and correct grammar usage.
- Work with the Rate Regulation Division to evaluate the legitimacy and reasonableness of a utility company's expense levels and develop estimates of an appropriate rate of return on the utility company's capital investment.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or economics.
- Minimum of one year of experience in utility accounting or finance, or public accounting for Financial Examiner III and above.
- Active Certified Public Accountant license for Financial Examiner V.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
