Position Overview:

MITRE is looking for a qualified individual to utilize their systems engineering and Army acquisition expertise to enhance Intelligence Reconnaissance and Surveillance (ISR) sensors and systems, as well as SIGINT, Electronic Warfare, and intelligence operations and technologies.

The selected candidate will apply their systems engineering knowledge to support various system development lifecycles, focusing on the design, implementation, testing, and integration of enterprise systems and system-of-systems for the Army.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise government program managers in defining the context, problem space, and vision to determine capabilities, priorities, road maps, and technology needs using modern systems engineering methodologies.
  • Employ systems engineering skills to promote a comprehensive approach to systems development and design.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Design architectures and mission threads to interconnect related systems and lead initiatives to enhance the testing, integration, and deployment of Electronic Warfare and intelligence systems.
  • Utilize advanced methods and tools (such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Analytics) to evaluate designs, identify and mitigate performance constraints, assess proposed changes, and support verification and testing efforts to address critical safety and security challenges.
  • Recognize technical gaps, devise solutions, and assist in executing research and engineering strategies.
  • Support the application of emerging technologies across multiple Army domains, including wireless communications, space systems, and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
  • Provide Program Acquisition support, including systems engineering (requirements development and management, design and development phase support, T&E support, etc.) and mission engineering assistance.


Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong systems engineering capabilities and familiarity with independent Verification & Validation (V&V) testing.
  • Knowledge of systems architecture modeling, systems design, and development.
  • Experience with Army acquisition, preferably with direct interaction with Program Executive Offices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with sponsors, including guiding project direction, presenting results, and developing analytically based conclusions and recommendations.
  • Currently possess a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to spend a significant amount of time on-site in sponsor facilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with intelligence operations, the intelligence lifecycle, and intelligence systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience with DoD Intelligence, SIGINT, or EW systems.
  • Proven experience in converging solutions to achieve integrated systems solutions.
  • Hands-on proficiency with standards-based architecture modeling tools.
  • Ability to lead small teams for analysis and technical development.
  • Current SCI clearance.
