The Surgical Technician I plays a crucial role in providing surgical assistance in a secure, suitable, and effective manner under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician, adhering to established Surgical Technician standards. It is imperative that the Surgical Technician operates within their defined scope of practice, refraining from tasks such as patient assessment, data evaluation, or medication administration, even if requested by a Surgeon. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring the availability and maintenance of surgical instruments, following aseptic techniques, possessing advanced knowledge of surgical procedures, and facilitating patient flow within the department. The Surgical Technician is expected to communicate effectively with the surgical team and supervisory personnel. Additionally, they must engage in documentation processes and collaborate with various professional disciplines to guarantee safe and effective patient care delivery and optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Prepare individual and unit for Magnet recognition.
2. Meet population-specific competencies.
3. Provide care to patients undergoing surgical procedures under the guidance of an RN or Physician.
4. Apply aseptic principles knowledgeably to ensure quality patient care.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in all surgical procedures and effectively utilize equipment and supplies during assignments.
6. Continuously develop clinical expertise and stay informed about healthcare trends and educational advancements related to practice.
7. Exhibit knowledge and skills pertinent to job-specific competencies in the operating room.
8. Perform other duties as assigned. *Compensation within the pay range is influenced by various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Preferred minimum of one year of acute care experience.
Proficiency in computer usage, internet navigation, order entry, and word processing is preferred.
* Familiarity with medical terminology is essential.
* Ability to meet the on-call requirements of the department.
Education/Certification:
Completion of a surgical technology program or military training program is required.
Current certification from the American Heart Association in Basic Cardiac Life Support is mandatory.
