Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulatory Oncology Network Receptionist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our patient care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring seamless communication between patients, providers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and route inbound calls in a timely and accurate manner, utilizing scripted call screening questions and judgment to determine the urgency of calls.
  • Initiate telephone encounters in the Epic system, routing calls to appropriate clinicians or inbasket pools in accordance with Smilow Telephone Triage guidelines.
  • Refer patient calls for appointment scheduling, including treatment scheduling or cancellation requests, to clinical staff.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, including maintaining current contact lists and proficiency in operating the telephone system, paging, and call transfer.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by secretarial training courses.
  • One to two years of secretarial or business-related experience involving public contact, preferably in a patient care environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, good typing and data entry skills, and proficiency in word processing and computer systems.
