Position Overview

We are currently offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified CDL Class-A drivers.

As a CDL Transport Operator at Spee-Dee Delivery Service, your primary responsibility will be to operate a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck for the purpose of transporting packages between various terminals.

Work Schedule and Compensation:

  • Monday to Friday, starting at 9:00 PM until the completion of the route.
  • Anticipated overtime of 10-15 hours per week.
  • Overtime compensation at time and a half after 40 hours worked.
  • Starting pay is competitive and based on experience.
  • An additional $2.00 shift premium applies for shifts starting between 5:00 PM and 4:59 AM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a thorough pre-trip inspection of the vehicle to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is functioning properly.
  • Complete and submit pre-trip inspection forms along with mileage and maintenance logs.
  • Transport parcels between terminals safely and efficiently.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages immediately.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle by washing the exterior daily.
  • Adhere to all required certifications mandated by DOT and company safety protocols.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL Class-A driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Capability to operate a manual transmission.
  • Possession or ability to obtain doubles/triples endorsement.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and make swift decisions.
  • Must pass a DOT physical and be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds repetitively, including some overhead lifting.
  • Experience handling various types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishables, and live animals.
  • Full range of motion with no restrictions on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, and walking.
  • Work environment includes outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards related to vehicle operation and package contents.
