Position Overview:

The Oncology Registered Nurse is accountable for evaluating the physiological, emotional, and spiritual requirements of each patient within the designated unit and devising nursing care strategies to address those needs. This role includes ensuring that nursing care plans are implemented effectively through direct actions and/or guidance of junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Complies with the nursing standards established by McLaren Regional Medical Center, employing a systematic approach to nursing practice through the nursing process.
  2. Evaluates and records the patient's condition upon admission and continues to monitor thereafter.
  3. Creates a comprehensive written care plan, outlining both long-term and short-term objectives along with nursing interventions.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant formal education/training beyond high school is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Completion of the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy & Biotherapy course is required within one year of employment or transfer.
  • BLS certification is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in oncology, surgical nursing, and/or chemotherapy is highly desirable.
  • 6 months to 1 year of relevant job experience is preferred.
