Job Title: Consulting Psychologist

The Browning School is seeking a highly skilled Consulting Psychologist to join our Wellness team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Director of Wellness and school counselors to support the emotional, social, and mental health needs of students, families, and faculty.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Visit The Browning School on a biweekly basis to support the work of the Wellness and divisional Student Support Teams (SST)
  • Meet with the SST in various divisions to advise and make recommendations for supporting the needs of specific students
  • Observe students in the classroom and provide insight and feedback for support to administrators, counselors, and teachers
  • Share relevant resources and information with the Wellness team and faculty members for supporting student wellness and mental health
  • Conduct professional development or educational workshops to faculty, staff, and families as needed or requested
  • Consult with the Wellness team on an as-needed basis to support their work with the Browning community
  • Provide referrals for emergent and long-term support providers for students with specific mental health or emotional needs
  • Conduct mental health safety assessments in emergent situations
  • Provide crisis intervention and support
  • Read and interpret neuropsychological evaluations or other medical documents
  • Communicate with families on an as-needed basis to provide support, referrals, and recommendations for their boys
  • Maintain clinical notes for all students and families with whom the Consulting Psychologist interacts
  • Create strong relationships with faculty and students built on Browning's core values of honesty, dignity, curiosity, and purpose
  • Collaborate as a professional, collegial, and inspirational member of the Wellness team
  • Heartily contribute to the school community
Requirements:
  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology or a related field
  • Licensed in New York state
  • Experience in or familiarity with independent schools
  • Affinity for working with boys at different developmental stages from K-12
