Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom Engineer to join our Utility Communication (UComm) Department in the Digital Organization. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to support the delivery and maintenance of IT solutions related to Cyber, Fiber Optics, Firewall, Real Time Networks, SmartGrid, Transport (SONET/DWDM), and Wireless (RF) Communication technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in the engineering, deployment, integration, and strategic strategy of high-available telecommunications technologies throughout Exelon.
  • Support the migration away from legacy communications and implement secure IP-based network infrastructure in substations throughout Exelon.
  • Collaborate with the network team, leadership, enterprise business partners, vendors, and project/design teams to ensure the secure and reliable transport of IP networks.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within the discipline or function.
  • Provide performance evaluations, career development feedback, and recognition as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 4-7 years of relevant experience or 6-9 equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to perform detailed telecommunication engineering functions, including network management platforms, inventory management, and documentation systems.
  • Experience working in a substation environment, including a thorough understanding of specific requirements and standards for SCADA and system protection communications.
  • Thorough understanding of OSI layers 1, 2, and 3, with emphasis on layer 3 routing and addressing structure, including BGP and ISIS routing protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology.
  • Understanding of change management principles associated with new technology implementations.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to develop a comprehensive configuration management program for telecommunication assets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
  • Experience designing and deploying wireless networks (LMR, Microwave, PtMP, 5G/LTE).
  • Experience with radio licensing and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
  • Technical certification and/or knowledge in Technical Area of Specialty, where applicable (fiber/wireless/networking) CCNA, CCNP, CCIE.
  • Detailed understanding of NERC/CIP security requirements.
