Job Description

This role involves overseeing the operations of our yard team.

You will be responsible for managing the workflow of assigned team members.

You will coordinate delivery scheduling and dispatch duties, handle customer and delivery inquiries, receive and stock materials, and provide inventory assistance and support.

This includes directing day-to-day workflow of assigned team members, monitoring yard activities, and providing input on departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises workers who receive, distribute, and load materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining yard organization and general tasks at the Grand Blanc location.
  • Oversees and fulfills the same job responsibilities of designated yard team members at the Grand Blanc location.
  • Coordinates workload of Yard team members and Drivers, arranging duties, dispatching product deliveries and pick-ups, yard activities, and providing input on departmental needs.
  • Efficiently manages paperwork, ensuring timely submittal of requisitions for replacement materials, accurate data entry, delivery notations, confirmation of inventory shipments/ receipts, and other customer updates and follow-ups.
  • Coordinates inventory support and assistance, including inventory preparations and counts, proper disposal of materials no longer being used, and inventory adjustments to ensure company systems accurately reflect material on hand.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers, providing exemplary customer service.
  • Maintain Yard layout standards and protocol, ensuring adherence to yard set-up standards and that yard areas are clean and kept up.
  • Open communication with the Operations Manager regarding challenges, possible solutions, and business impacts.
  • Performance management of designated team members limited to job training, supervising cross training, monitoring required Driver, Safety, and company system training, and day-to-day direction of all Yard Team Members.
  • Work closely with mechanics for the maintenance of all MOT devices onsite as well as various equipment.
  • Monitor and support the production of cage building and maintain records of materials needed and those completed for projects.
  • Welding on occasion
  • Must be willing to work outdoors.
  • Ability to operate various equipment to move materials around the yard.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

">

A valid driver's license, CDL A or B (preferred but not required).

Works well in a team environment where situations and demands change daily.

Reliable source of transportation.

Effective communication skills.

Experience operating construction equipment.

Experience as a material handler.

Experience operating yard equipment.

Previous experience as a leader, providing guidance and support to team members.

Ability to use hand tools.

Welding.

Ability to accurately read a level and a tape measure.
