About the Role

Flowserve is a world-leading manufacturer and aftermarket service provider of comprehensive flow control systems. Our company is committed to building a more sustainable future by providing innovative flow control products and services. To achieve this goal, we need a skilled Machinist to join our team at our Taneytown, MD facility. The ideal candidate will have experience operating manual and CNC machines, with a focus on precision and quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for machining castings to within a +/- .001 tolerance and will work with a variety of precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

The Machinist will be responsible for:

  • Machining castings on manual and CNC machines
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as tooling and machinery for efficient and safe operation
  • Accurately machining to within a +/- .001 tolerance and working with prints that include geometric tolerances
  • Using precision measuring equipment and working in both English and Metric systems
  • Operating jib and overhead cranes to lift large castings
  • Understanding and operating machines, tooling, and measuring equipment properly and safely
  • Adhering to all Safety Procedures & Policy, including completing all required safety training

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate must have:

  • 3-5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment, operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills
  • Experience using and interpreting precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, geometric tolerances, and finishes during the application of machining
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and CIP environment
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and drawings
  • Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive arm motions, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • High School Diploma or GED, or relevant years of experience in lieu of education

Preferred Qualifications

Machinist certification, training, or degree related to machining is a plus. Experience in high mix, low volume manufacturing environments and forklift certification are also desirable.
