Heavy Machinery Technician

Lane Enterprises Inc. is a leading manufacturer of metal and plastic pipe products, offering a competitive salary to the right candidate.

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience and location.

A Heavy Machinery Technician is responsible for safely operating a forklift and transporting products around the facility, ensuring efficient handling and storage of materials.

• Efficiently handle the forklift in lifting, moving, and packing loads of metal and plastic pipe that can vary in weight up to 15,000 lbs.
• Navigate tight spaces without causing damage to Lane products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Completing daily checklists on the machine and reporting any problems promptly to the mechanical staff or supervisor.
2. Driving defensively and safely carrying a load while driving among pedestrians walking in front of and behind the forklift.
3. Storing inventory in such a manner that facilitates rotating inventory.
4. Cutting and loading scrap pipe, cleaning the forklift, cleaning the breakroom, organizing coil storage, sweeping the mill area, and other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

• A strong mechanical ability.
• The ability to do basic math.
• Knowledge of the physics of load and weight distribution and center of gravity.

The ideal candidate should have:

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment as a forklift operator.

You must be able to:

• Pass forklift certification training and physical exam.
• Lift loads of up to 100 pounds without the lift truck.
• Work in different positions for a very long period of time and sit, stand, bend, kneel, or walk for up to eight (8) hours at a time.
