About the Role

We're seeking an Operations Researcher to join our team at MITRE. As an Operations Researcher, you will support our sponsor through research and data analysis related to future critical Intelligence Community (IC) needs in the space and ground domains. You will evaluate proposed IC and DoD future overhead architectures, formulate and compute capability trade-offs and risks to missions in various scenarios, and present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate proposed IC and DoD future overhead architectures
  • Formulate and compute capability trade-offs and risks to missions in various scenarios
  • Construct and execute analysis plans for the responsibilities listed above, to include working within or leading small teams
  • Work with senior government sponsors as either a lead or supporting analyst
  • Apply operations research, statistics, and data analytics concepts and approaches to real-world problems
  • Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences
Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 7 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 4 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • Familiarity with space-based ISR systems and capabilities
  • Previous experience working for OSD Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (CAPE) as a government employee, military officer, or contractor
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts, methods, and tools for conducting operations research, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, or data analytic studies
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical efforts and yielding impactful results at high levels of government and/or industry
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and present statistically valid results: orally, numerically, and graphically
  • Strong critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills – comfortable working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped, or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to write technical reports, present briefings, and persuasively speak to audiences of all backgrounds, including executives or senior sponsors
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
  • Advanced degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Systems Engineering, or other data sciences
