Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, record, and process all inbound clinical laboratory samples for testing
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, receipt, and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Perform work safely and apply all relevant protocols
  • Take responsibility and ownership for timely and quality completion of work
  • Detail-oriented, time-organized, and ensure completion of tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others on the teams
  • Recognize when to escalate issues encountered in the lab
  • Work to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments
  • Clearly communicate work in progress (WIP) to next shift
  • Communicate issues with equipment and safety via ticketing systems
  • Complete all required trainings and competencies on time
  • Understand the internal activity (IA) process and resolve sample issues
  • Act as an ambassador for health and safety in the laboratory environment
  • Help train new personnel
  • Foresee issues and work to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments
  • Achieve goals by performing collaborative projects with team members across multiple disciplines and with internal customers
  • Be proficient in LIMS data entry
  • Coordinate sample return with multiple departments both internal and external
Requirements:
  • 1 year of laboratory experience or accessioning experience
  • Comfortable with the handling and processing of blood samples
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with detailed procedures that ensure the safety of all staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently, following detailed work instructions, and as part of a cohesive team that together completes daily sample intake and processing in a timely manner
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties to meet timelines
  • Exhibit initiative and leadership to complete laboratory tasks
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, and time management skills
