Clean and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of Memorial Healthcare facilities to meet high standards. This includes cleaning patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratories, waiting areas, physician offices, and public restrooms. Tasks involve using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants to wipe equipment, clean furniture, dust or wet mop floors, and vacuum carpets. Responsibilities include making beds, emptying trash, replenishing paper products, collecting dirty laundry from all patient areas, and adhering to established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform cleaning tasks in assigned areas.
- Dust, mop, and vacuum according to department procedures.
- Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles daily (except for dirty utility receptacles, which should be cleaned once a month or as needed).
- Clean water fountains daily and as required.
- Use damp cloths to clean furniture.
- Clean windows, window sills, screens, and casings.
- Clean doors, door frames, and hinges.
- Spot wash walls when necessary.
- Clean and polish mirrors.
- Clean restrooms, including tiles, chrome fixtures, mirrors, and vents.
- Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soap, tissues, and equipment as needed.
- Clean patient rooms.
- Perform all cleaning tasks listed above.
- Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds, bedside stands, over-bed tables, desks, closets, and other furniture in the room.
- Inspect walls, ceilings, and grids for thorough washing.
- Check the condition of the floor and notify the Department Head/Supervisor if it needs to be redone.
- Place tent cards and hang 'patient ready' signs on the door upon completion.
- Maintain full carts with supplies in housekeeping closets; carts and closets must be fully stocked at the end of each shift.
- Prepare own cleaning solutions as needed, following directions accurately.
- Complete monthly side work within the allotted timeframe.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform job duties at off-site locations when necessary.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous housekeeping experience preferred, but on-the-job training will be provided.
- Sedentary Work: Frequently requires standing, kneeling, and crouching. Daily activities may include moving around, sitting, climbing stairs, and bending. Requires lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds and pushing/pulling/carrying items between 20-100 pounds.
- Vision: Requires the ability to perceive objects by sight. Near acuity: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Midrange Acuity: Clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet.
- Motor Coordination: Performs functions that involve hand and finger movement, handling or feeling objects, and using tools or equipment that requires reaching with hands and arms.
- Speaking/Hearing: Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
- Proficiency in modern office, computer, and telephone equipment used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Able to clean ceilings, walls, floors, and windows.
$30,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
