Job Responsibilities:

Unit Overview

As a Registered Nurse in our Orthopedic and Neuro Surgical Unit, you will work in a mixed acuity environment handling Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care for surgical patients, including urology, mass removal, and general abdominal surgeries
  • Specialize in orthopedics, primarily handling total joints and ortho trauma
  • Manage neuro/spine patients, particularly post neuro-intervention
  • Handle general medical cases such as cellulitis, influenza, pneumonia, COPD, and more
  • Perform various nursing duties such as reading/interpreting cardiac strips, chest tube management, and wound care
  • Administer TPN/tube feeding, medication administration, and blood product transfusions
  • Conduct drip titration of medications like Heparin, Insulin, and other antihypertensives
  • Work within a unit's pod structure, collaborating with other RNs and Nurse Aides
  • Float between related units based on staffing needs
  • Participate in a comprehensive orientation program to familiarize with unit policies and protocols
  • Adhere to a weekend rotation schedule and discuss availability for working every weekend if needed
  • Follow holiday and time-off policies, including specific blackout dates
  • Wear specified scrub color during shifts
