Job Description

Washington Vocational Services is seeking a skilled Vocational Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing post-secondary transition and education services to students with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement effective curriculum to meet the needs of our students.
  • Teach basic job-related skills, including dress, hygiene, interview skills, and work habits.
  • Develop and lead classroom instruction to promote life skills and work skill building.
  • Collaborate with IEP Coordinators to evaluate student strengths and needs.
  • Identify and plan community-based learning experiences to enhance student learning.
  • Accompany students on job site visits and provide support as needed.
  • Manage data collection and record-keeping processes to ensure compliance with CARF and contract standards.
  • Establish quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with contract and CARF regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Special Education, or Social Work.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification required.
  • Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals and providing instruction, employment support, and job development.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Pushing, pulling, crouching, and reaching as required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
