Position Overview

  • Duration: 13 weeks

Client Expectations:
- Patient ratios of 1:4+
- Minimum of 1.5 years of acute inpatient care experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the schedule
- Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and CHEMO are mandatory
- Flexibility to float to various inpatient oncology units as needed
- Potential to float to other Intermediate Care areas based on unit requirements
- No block scheduling available
- Local candidates are accepted

Patient Care Focus:
- The unit provides care for medical oncology patients, including BMT overflow, new leukemia inductions, multiple transfusions, count recovery, and hematology.
- The unit features a 5-bed intermediate care area.

Required Skills:
- Experience in PCU and inpatient oncology
- Knowledge of leukemia, blood dyscrasias, lymphoma, and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Proficiency in accessing and managing ports, central lines, infusion pumps, and PICC lines
- Competence in starting IVs, PCA pump management, telemonitoring, and interpretation
- Understanding of neutropenic precautions.
