Director of the English Language Institute

The University of Montana is seeking a visionary leader to oversee the English Language Institute (ELI), a premier English language program. As the Director, you will provide academic and administrative leadership, manage resources, collaborate with campus units, and foster a collegial atmosphere that supports ELI's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program and Partnership Development: Develop and implement strategies to enhance ELI's programs and partnerships.
  • Program Management: Oversee the administration of ELI's programs, including budgeting, personnel management, and student recruitment.
  • Marketing and Recruitment Development: Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract students and promote ELI's programs.
  • Instructor and Staff Management and Mentoring: Supervise and mentor ELI instructors and staff, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Testing Assessment, and Instructional Materials: Develop and implement assessment tools and instructional materials to support ELI's programs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to understand standard office procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Must be able to work independently, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments, be accountable for their work, with a strong work ethic to achieve excellent results.
  • Ability to actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives, and builds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual regard.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in or knowledge of TESOL.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment.
  • Experience using budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Experience in grants and externally funded projects.
  • Record of administrative leadership.
  • Understanding of student recruitment and marketing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Proficient in MS-Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS-Outlook.

  • Understand the project schedule and the critical path
  • Review content for the short-term plan
  • Participate in the quality program including attending meetings, performing inspections, and verifying materials
