Recognizing the essential role Anesthesiologists play in managing our diverse patient demographic, we are expanding our team to fulfill our commitment to providing exceptional care in the Hudson Valley. This role involves working in critical care alongside general anesthesia responsibilities, integrating both care models effectively.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence and a strong dedication to patient-focused care.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer anesthetic care during critical medical situations.
  • Coordinate treatment plans and collaborate with various specialists to ensure comprehensive care in our Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
  • Lead daily interdisciplinary rounds with both the ICU and surgical teams.
  • Oversee the operations of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Engage in clinical research and contribute to advancements in anesthesiology and surgical critical care.
  • Provide continuous 24/7 coverage for complex, critically ill patients, including those undergoing surgery.
  • Work closely with trauma surgeons and surgical intensivists to deliver thorough critical care for patients.
  • Participate in curriculum development for residents and fellows in anesthesia and surgical critical care.
  • Facilitate fellowship education and training in ultrasound techniques.
  • Share responsibilities for flexible rotations in the cardiothoracic ICU.
  • Participate in a flexible on-call schedule with designated post-call days to promote work-life balance.
  • Optional nocturnist shifts to ensure comprehensive oversight and teaching for critically ill patients.
  • Educate surgical, anesthesiology, and medical residents, fellows, and students.

Additional Information:

The Intensive Care Units (ICUs) under our care include:

  • Cardiac Surgical ICU: Management of patients post-complex cardiac procedures such as valve surgeries and transplants.
  • General Surgical ICU: Care for patients with severe trauma and those recovering from significant surgical interventions.
  • Trauma ICU: Specialized care for patients with complex neurotrauma requiring intensive monitoring.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and provide recommendations.
  • Engage in discussions regarding potential resuscitation and life-support options with patients and their families.
