Position Summary
The Medical Consultant I (MC I) plays a vital role in supporting the mission and strategic objectives of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The MC I is responsible for ensuring that the operations of surveyors align with state regulations and departmental guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the formulation of policies and standards pertaining to health care and health care facilities.
  • Ensure uniformity and compliance in the work conducted by surveyors.
  • Engage in periodic travel within California and potentially other states, with travel requirements reaching up to 33%.

The MC I operates under the general supervision of the Medical Consultant II (Supervisor).

Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the minimum requirements outlined in the Class Specification for the Medical Consultant I role within the Department of Health Services.
