Role Summary: The Equipment Yard Specialist is responsible for the systematic and effective distribution of machinery to meet client requirements. This role involves receiving, evaluating, and organizing equipment within a yard setting, ensuring that the yard remains orderly and compliant with established protocols. Furthermore, this position addresses the needs of customers and visitors present in the equipment yard.
The individual in this role is expected to exemplify the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Uphold the company's mission and core values; 2) Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders; 3) Engage in continuous personal and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Efficiently loads and unloads machinery and attachments for both company and client vehicles.
• Conducts inspections and reports on the condition of equipment.
• Maintains accurate equipment inventory systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Verifies and documents all equipment entering and exiting the yard.
• Performs check-in and check-out procedures for equipment.
• Conducts physical inventory assessments and reconciles discrepancies.
• Reviews shipping and receiving documentation to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Cleans and maintains machines and equipment.
• Records equipment condition before and after use.
• Assists with routine inspections, minor repairs, and general upkeep.
• Supports equipment demonstrations and the loading/unloading process.
• Delivers exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients.
• Fosters a collaborative team environment by working effectively with colleagues while maintaining a positive demeanor.
• Ensures organization and efficiency while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Addresses any inquiries related to inventory.
• Facilitates the delivery and/or collection of equipment as necessary.
• Adheres to safety protocols at all times and complies with company policies and standards.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Familiarity with machinery and tools, including their design, application, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Quality control skills - Conducting assessments and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Operational control skills - Managing the operations of equipment or systems.
• Equipment selection skills - Identifying the appropriate tools and machinery required for tasks.
• Capability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to make precise adjustments to machinery controls.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment for mechanical repairs.
• Ability to perform coordinated movements with hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
• Proficient in reading and comprehending written information.
• Capable of listening to and understanding spoken information.
Education and Experience:
• Preferred one or more years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Class C Driver's License required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Travel Requirements:
• No travel is anticipated for this role.
Physical Demands:
• This position requires extended periods of standing and frequent movement within maintenance areas.
• Must be capable of lifting and moving objects, utilizing abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time.
• Regularly moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Involves constant movement and use of limbs; good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina are essential.
• Ability to ascend and descend using both hands and feet, including climbing ladders.
• Must be able to maneuver safely and work beneath equipment.
• Regularly responds to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
Work Environment:
• Regularly works outdoors around heavy machinery and various equipment.
• May encounter extreme weather conditions when working outside.
• Noise levels may be elevated at times.
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
• Significant time spent in confined spaces and elevated areas.
