Aquarist Supervisor Job Description

The Aquarist Supervisor is a key member of the Curator Department at Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. This role is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the resort's aquariums, including scheduling of tasks, ordering of supplies, and ensuring the safety of all aquatic life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Aquarists to ensure the highest standards of aquarium maintenance and care.
  • Develop and implement procedures for the safe handling and care of aquatic animals.
  • Conduct regular inspections of aquariums to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and free from hazards.
  • Collaborate with the Curator Department Manager to develop and implement new aquarium exhibits and displays.
  • Provide training and guidance to Aquarists on aquarium maintenance, animal care, and safety procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in aquarium maintenance and care.
  • SCUBA certification and experience with aquarium diving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Exposure to chemicals, cleaning agents, and other hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work in a confined space and at heights.

Salary Range: $27.87/hour
