Job Summary

The Electrophysiology Technician will play a crucial role in the Cardiac Cath Lab team, providing exceptional patient care and technical expertise during Electrophysiology procedures. As a skilled Cardiovascular Scrub Technician and Electrophysiology Recorder, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate monitoring, quality data collection, and effective communication with the patient care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Electrophysiology procedures, demonstrating advanced technical proficiency and knowledge of cardiac structures, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Assist physicians in obtaining and entering data into the Electrophysiology Physiologic Monitoring System, ensuring accurate assessment and homodynamic data.
  • Practice radiation safety, adhering to regulations and guidelines set by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee.
  • Accurately report life-threatening arrhythmias, demonstrating proficiency in assessing cardiac function and understanding abnormal physiology or disease processes.
  • Ensure proper archiving of angiographic and procedural data, maintaining both hard copy and computerized formats.
  • Assist in training new staff members and existing staff in the scrub/recorder arena.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or G.E.D. with one of the following:
  • A. Two years of full-time Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience
  • B. An Associate Degree or equivalent college hours in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering, or any primary science, and one year of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience
  • C. Baccalaureate degree in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering, or any primary science, and six months of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience
  • D. Graduate of an accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology
  • E. Graduate of a non-programmatically accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology with a minimum of one year of specialty training and 800 clinical hours
