Experience and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or a related field
- One year of training or experience in clinical cytogenetics
- Certification as Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics by ASCP
Preferred Experience:
- Experienced technologist with advanced FISH analysis experience and drafting reports
Job Duties:
- Collect and prepare biological specimens for cytogenetic analyses
- Accurately record patient demographics and relevant history
- Cultures cells using biohazard and aseptic techniques
- Harvests cell cultures and prepares microscopic slides
- Analyzes chromosome preparations and summarizes results
- Operates and maintains laboratory equipment
- Assists in development of cytogenetic training programs and participates in conferences
