Overview

As a Part-Time Book Sales Associate, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service while promoting a love for reading and literature. Your primary responsibility will be to create an engaging shopping atmosphere by sharing your expertise about our diverse range of products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver exceptional customer service by adhering to our core service principles: personally connect customers with books, offer to place special orders, promote membership programs, and ensure efficient checkout processes.
  2. Accurately process daily transactions, customer requests, and returns in line with established operational standards.
  3. Safeguard company resources by following inventory management and loss prevention protocols.
  4. Maintain a tidy and organized receiving area to enhance operational efficiency.
  5. Collaborate with the store team by assisting with shelving, zoning, and providing support to customers throughout the store, including cash wrap and specialty sections.
  6. Facilitate the onboarding of new team members, helping them acclimate to our unique bookselling environment.
  7. Uphold integrity and trust, actively promoting our bookselling culture and core values.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, fostering rapport and teamwork within the store. Attention to detail is crucial when handling transactions and paperwork, along with a commitment to continuous learning about the business.

Effective communication skills are essential, as you will share knowledge with fellow associates to contribute to the store's overall success. You should be adaptable to a dynamic work environment, capable of multitasking, and willing to assist in various store areas.

Compliance with company standards, policies, and ethical guidelines is expected at all times. The role involves physical activity, including navigating the store, prolonged standing, bending, climbing, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required, as our stores operate daily. Proficiency in using computers and cash registers is necessary.
