Orthopedic Trauma Care Provider

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider to join our Orthopedic Trauma team at the University of New Mexico. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will provide independent acute and routine medical care to our patients, working closely with trauma service team members to round on admitted patients, treat, and prepare for discharge.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Perform joint injections and aspirations as needed, and implement treatment, follow-up, and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols.
- Work with trauma service team members to provide high-quality patient care and ensure seamless transitions between departments.
- See patients in a high-volume outpatient clinic, helping to make handouts for patients, update intake forms, and process prescriptions.
- Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plans with patients and families as necessary to achieve improved health outcomes.
- Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues, and the use of prescribed medical treatment.
- Eligible for New Mexico certification as a Physician's Assistant or State of New Mexico Certified Nurse Practitioner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, advanced practice providers, and ambulatory staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
- Experience in clinical in-patient and out-patient care, with a specialization in orthopaedics and trauma experience a plus.
- Ability to act as a role model through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
