Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Avionics Test Lab

SpaceX is a pioneering space technology company that aims to make humanity a multi-planetary species. We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our Avionics Test Lab team.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop tooling for production-level environmental testing, including vibration, thermal, shock, and thermal vacuum.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define environmental test equipment specifications, identify vendors, and justify spend.
  • Develop and maintain production process documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment, tooling, and procedure-related in-process issues, implementing corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Drive improvements in production methods, standards, tooling, equipment, layout, procedures, product designs, and employee efficiency to reduce labor costs and maximize quality.
  • Perform return on investment analysis for capital spend proposals, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Prepare production reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, providing insights to inform business decisions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental testing (vibration, thermal, shock, or thermal vacuum) or electro-mechanical testing.
  • Strong CAD experience and proficiency in design software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Six-Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S techniques to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-technology environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
  • Position may require extended hours and weekend work, as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State, due to ITAR requirements.
