Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Education: Must possess a medical degree or an equivalent qualification in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a clinical setting.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Relevant certifications as applicable.
  • Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen.
  • Residency Training: Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program, leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Certification: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and clinical interventions, including comprehensive patient evaluations, health histories, physical examinations, and patient education within the Primary Care team framework.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to achieve patient, service, and medical center objectives, while promoting the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care, embodying the values of Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE).
  • Differentiate between normal and abnormal clinical findings to establish diagnoses and respond appropriately to urgent health issues.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as necessary, recommending treatments and/or referrals as appropriate.
  • Initiate and manage referrals and consultations to other clinical services.
  • Prescribe, evaluate, and modify medication orders as needed.
  • Adhere to Performance Measure guidelines, ensuring completion of clinical reminders, access and timeliness standards, prescription order entry, National VA formulary requirements, and customer service expectations.
  • Exhibit flexibility in addressing clinic demands while maintaining personal and professional responsibilities.
  • Uphold ethical standards and foster a work environment that prioritizes harmony and customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
