Catering Delivery Driver Job Description

The Catering Delivery Driver position is a flexible role where the driver will typically receive a text message the day before with a time and address, indicating a delivery assignment.

Upon receiving the message, the driver is expected to respond to confirm their availability for the delivery. Once confirmed, the driver is responsible for mapping out their route and planning to arrive at the restaurant 30 minutes prior to the scheduled delivery time.

On the day of the delivery, the driver must inspect the order using a checklist to ensure all items are included before departing with the order. The driver has a 30-minute window for delivery, with a goal of completing the delivery within the final 15 minutes.

Upon completion of the delivery, the driver is responsible for setting up the order and performing any additional tasks requested by the customer. A photo of the completed delivery is then sent to the Catering Coordinator or Manager, depending on who assigned the delivery.

After completing the delivery, the driver returns to the restaurant with any necessary paperwork and reports tips to the Catering Coordinator. The driver may also be asked to assist with completing orders at the restaurant level when needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled delivery time to inspect the order using a checklist.
  • Deliver and set up the order within the 30-minute window.
  • Take a photo of the completed delivery and send it to the Catering Coordinator or Manager.
  • Notify the customer and Catering Coordinator/Manager of any unforeseen circumstances that may cause the order to be late.
  • Return to the restaurant with any necessary paperwork and tips.
  • Assist with completing orders at the restaurant level when needed.
Compensation:

The Catering Delivery Driver is paid $5 per hour while delivering orders, with opportunities for raises. An automatic $15 delivery fee is paid for each order taken. Extended trips over 10 miles are paid mileage to and from the destination. All tips are given to the driver on the day of delivery.
