Nurse Residency Program for New Graduates

At Deborah Heart and Lung Center, we are committed to providing a supportive environment for newly graduated and licensed registered nurses to transition from academia to clinical practice. Our Nurse Residency Program is designed to equip nurse residents with the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary to deliver safe, quality care using evidence-based standards and best practices.
The program offers nurse residents training, competency, and professional development, as well as support for the critical transition from student nurse to clinical practice. Through supportive mentoring, coaching, and learning, nurse residents will develop clinical and leadership skills and be cultivated into nurse professionals who deliver high-quality patient care.
Positions are available on Medical Surgical, MICU/SICU/Telemetry, and OR units. To be eligible, candidates must have a current New Jersey RN license, graduate from an accredited diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate degree nursing program within the last 12 months, and be the first employer after graduation. A GPA of > 3.4 and a letter of recommendation from a school instructor are also required.
Commitment to the program is for 1 year after the first year of residency. Heartsaver CPR certification is required within 3 months of hire, and the ability to work well with others, be conscientious, organized, and reliable is essential. Bi-weekly hours are 72 hours per pay period, with various shifts available.
