Key Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and deploy secure communication systems, including cryptographic devices, network encryption appliances, and key management infrastructure.
- Risk Assessment and Security Audits: Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop appropriate countermeasures.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement COMSEC policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate COMSEC solutions into the overall network architecture.
- Cryptographic Key Management: Perform cryptographic key management, including key generation, distribution, rotation, and destruction.
- Incident Response: Monitor and analyze network traffic for security incidents, intrusions, and unauthorized access attempts. Respond to security incidents, conduct investigations, and implement remediation measures.
- Staying Up-to-Date: Stay updated on emerging COMSEC technologies, trends, and threats, and make recommendations for their implementation.
- Security Awareness and Training: Conduct security awareness training for network users and provide guidance on secure communication practices.
- Compliance and Regulatory: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to ensure compliance with COMSEC regulations.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Participate in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to secure communication systems.
- Documentation and Support: Maintain accurate documentation of COMSEC procedures, configurations, and incident response activities. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve COMSEC-related issues.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Education: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or Associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Proven experience as a COMSEC Network Engineer or a similar role, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure communication systems.
- Skills: Strong understanding of network security technologies, protocols, and cryptographic algorithms. Knowledge of network monitoring and intrusion detection systems to detect and respond to security incidents.
- Clearance: Secret minimum.
