Job Description

As a Radiologic Technologist, you'll play a critical role in our mission to provide high-quality, connected care services. Your responsibilities will include:

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
  • Following physicians' orders precisely and adhering to regulations concerning radiation use to protect patients, colleagues, and yourself from unnecessary exposure.
  • Assisting patients in transferring to the detector or exam table and ensuring proper patient immobilization for radiologic exams.
  • Verifying patient identification on studies and routing them to PACS. Sending required information to Virtual Radiologic when necessary.
  • Maintaining a daily log of patients seen and operating radiologic or fluoroscopy equipment for diagnostic-quality imaging.
  • Obtaining essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
  • Monitoring patient reactions to treatment and changes in physical or mental status, reporting changes to the appropriate person.
  • Preparing and assisting patients for radiologic procedures as requested by physicians, providing patient care with dignity and respect.
  • Educating patients about procedures to be performed and obtaining optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning, radiologic techniques, and other required techniques.
  • Observing and following safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions.
  • Carrying out quality control checks on equipment and reporting deficiencies to proper personnel.
  • Working independently and demonstrating flexibility in work assignments.
  • Demonstrating commitment to total quality management and service excellence by acting in accordance with the organizational mission.
  • Maintaining familiarity with changes regarding technology and safety for self, patients, and visitors.
  • Processing studies onto CD or film format for patient study requests while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of equipment and working areas.
  • Practicing sterile technique and preventing cross-contamination.
  • Maintaining familiarity with emergency drugs and equipment locations.
  • Maintaining familiarity with departmental booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS systems.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through training and fulfillment of continuing education requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and imaging techniques.
  • High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
  • Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Promoting and following WMG policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Executing related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • New York State and/or Connecticut License and ARRT Certification
  • Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
  • Excellent patient and people skills.
  • Ability to maintain a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross-section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.
  • High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications.
  • Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
