We are seeking a skilled and dedicated General Ophthalmologist to join our team at Cayuga Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to patients within the scope of your qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Care:
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments to develop personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Prescribe medication and other appropriate therapies to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging to inform treatment decisions.
- Perform medical procedures and surgeries when necessary, with a focus on patient safety and well-being.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Provide patient education to empower patients with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their health.
- Communication:
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care coordination and patient satisfaction.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely fashion to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Clinical Expertise:
- Stay current with the latest medical research, treatments, and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
- Participate in CME and peer review activities to stay up-to-date with best practices and advance the field of ophthalmology.
- Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and improve outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Participate in the education of clinical learners (residents, APP students, etc.) to advance the field of ophthalmology and support the development of future healthcare professionals.
- Quality and Safety:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and ensure safe care is provided to all patients.
- Ethical and Professional Standards:
- Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of medical practice, upholding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Comply with all relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance and maintain the trust of patients and the community.
- Doctorate MD or DO from an accredited medical school required.
- Must have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with area of specialty.
- Be board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to Cayuga Medical Center.
- Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
- Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system.
- Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable state required.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME.
- Hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility setting.
- May include on-call and weekend shifts as required.
