About the Job

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team at Northwestern Mutual as an Insurance Document Associate. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our business units by opening, evaluating, acknowledging, and distributing mail.

  • You will examine incoming mail to ensure it has reached the correct destination and re-route any misdirected mail to the proper area.
  • Using established guidelines, you will officially identify/acknowledge receipt of all incoming mail and report information to the underwriter.
  • You will verify required information, complete associated forms, and identify when to escalate problems/exceptions to the Team Leader or Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving and slotting mail for distribution
  • Sorting and delivering print-outs; FedEX sorting and distribution
  • Assisting as needed with Electronic Document Conversion
  • Completing underwriting and/or claims document review and audit by identifying and analyzing various types of applications and documents
  • Reviewing work for high-priority insurance, mail, and/or claim documents
  • Identifying and resolving issues related to document classification and system enhancements/upgrades
  • Preparing documents for scanning by placing them in the correct order and determining the correct scan path
  • Meeting all established service level agreements
Requirements
  • High school or equivalency required
  • 1-2 years prior mail handling experience or customer services experience required
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize work under tight time constraints
  • High degree of accuracy and ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic PC proficiency required
  • Ability to work independently within established policy standards and procedures
  • Strong team worker with proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a manner consistent with privacy laws and regulations
  • Ability to multi-task and navigate using various systems
