Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN, is seeking a dedicated Sales Proposal Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This role focuses on the sales of various Transformer-related components, collaborating with both domestic and international facilities. The selected candidate will be responsible for crafting comprehensive proposals that encompass the scope of work, clarifications, pricing, and recommendations to ensure that bids and orders align with acceptable profit margins while fulfilling customer service requirements for aftermarket components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze customer specifications and requirements for aftermarket components. Collaborate with various departments to create bids that are responsive to customer inquiries. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities effectively. Utilize engineering data, drawings, customer specifications, and related information to generate cost estimates and requests for quotations for component purchases, assess supplier quotations, and summarize total cost evaluations.
  • Draft complete proposal documents and amend contract documents as necessary. Compile data for reporting on contract scope, terms, costs, and profitability for management review. Provide insights on market trends, competition, and strategies to support the development of new customer relationships and proposals.
  • Participate in meetings to share information and assess contract requirements. Engage in the investigation of technical issues and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to prevent recurrence. This role may involve some domestic travel.
  • Oversee the preparation and tracking of shipped goods, create shipping labels, and coordinate deliveries to customer sites using the most cost-effective transport methods. Develop vendor relationships and monitor on-time delivery of components to ensure timely delivery to customers. Manage the pipeline of all components, create purchase requisitions in SAP, and track all shipments to meet customer expectations for timely delivery and quality. Address customer complaints and aftermarket component issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction while collaborating closely with the sales team to provide updates on critical components.

  • Complexity of Tasks: This role requires a strong understanding of the organization's products, the ability to interpret drawings and related documents, and the capacity to prepare accurate cost estimates. Effective communication is essential when interfacing with other groups, and work will be subject to general oversight to ensure quality.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field with 2 to 5 years of experience in various functional roles. Alternatively, a unique combination of education and experience demonstrating relevant accomplishments.
  • Experience with software programs such as SAP or equivalent.
  • Proficient in engaging with customers on both business and technical matters.
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting technical documents and drawings.
  • A working knowledge of Electrical Transformers and their associated components.
  • Candidate must possess work authorization that allows them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
