Recreation Coordinator

Join our team at Grimes County, TX, as a Part-Time Recreation Specialist. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about recreation and community engagement.

Under the direction of our team, you will be responsible for monitoring and supervising various recreation activities at the GrimesPlex. Your primary duties will include:

• General supervision of events held at the GrimesPlex.
• Ability to take direction from supervisors and exercise sound judgment in enforcing facility rules.
• Ability to recognize and correct potentially hazardous conditions or situations.
• Ability to effectively and courteously interact with patrons and the general public.
• Communicate to supervisor any issues, concerns, or suggestions.
• Ability to develop rapport with groups of participants at varying levels.
• Maintains necessary records and submits required reports.
• Collects admission, class registration fees, and writes receipts.
• Repairs and maintains athletic and recreational equipment.
• Performs minor custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, etc. to maintain clean activity areas.
• Decorates center or facilities for seasonal displays.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• At least 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Iowa driver's license.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification are recommended.

This role requires:

• Light work exerting up to 30lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move and set-up equipment.
• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to have access to various work sites throughout the City and out of the area.
• Ability to stand or sit, walk, use hand/fingers to handle or feel, talk/hear, see, and repetitive motion.
• Occasional bending, twisting, turning, and squatting in implementing, setting up, and leading activities and/or programs.
