Contract Position Overview:

Position Summary:

  • The CT Imaging Technologist is expected to uphold a high standard of professionalism and service excellence while executing the following responsibilities.
  • Procures essential medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for designated procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Ensures the sterility of the operational field and instruments.
  • Accurately prepares necessary requisitions.
  • Engages with patients and their families before, during, and after procedures to alleviate concerns while ensuring the patient's privacy and dignity are maintained.
  • Adheres to all HIPAA regulations, safeguarding patient confidentiality.
  • Confirms patient identification following organizational policies.
  • Monitors the patient's condition pre- and post-contrast injections, reporting any sudden changes to nursing staff and radiologists.
  • Ensures the availability of medical records, prior reports, laboratory results, and patient history.
  • Is prepared to initiate emergency responses in the event of complications.
  • Maintains sufficient linen supplies in each scanning room.
  • Ensures adequate contrast media and biopsy/drainage supplies are available in each scanning room.
  • Follows designated room assignments (CT 1, 2, and 3).
  • Assists in the upkeep of the CT storeroom and external inventory.
  • Participates in daily inventory checks and restocking of supplies.
  • Alerts the Lead regarding expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications.
  • Conducts cleaning and inventory of supplies.
  • Engages in routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and associated equipment after each use.
  • When designated as Point staff, manages the triage of procedures according to the daily schedule, ensuring timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests.
  • Assigns staff to facilitate efficient workflow while prioritizing patient safety.
  • Maintains workflow within the section to coordinate urgent and unscheduled procedure requests within the established schedule.
  • Communicates effectively with all departments and floors regarding patient status.
  • Ensures prompt patient transport following procedures.
  • Assists in executing routine procedures.
  • Evaluates patient tolerance for contrast media.
  • Conducts screenings for allergies and medication incompatibilities.
  • Cleans the CT Unit and room after each use.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the work area.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the Coordinator or Lead.
  • Maintains quality assurance and quality control requirements for daily, monthly, and ACR specifications.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Radiographer Technical training program from an accredited School of Radiography or College-based Radiography program.

Certifications and Licensure:

  • ARRT RT (R)
  • ARRT RT (CT)
  • New Jersey State X-Ray License (NJDEP)
  • BLS Certification.
