Position Summary

The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing mechanical tasks that involve inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting routine maintenance on centrifugal pumps and electric motors, including bearing and seal replacements, alignments, and modifications.
  • Performing maintenance on various mechanical systems such as block valves, control valves, and air compressors.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and repair of reciprocating engines and their components.
  • Assisting in the replacement of pumps, motors, and valves, including foundational work and initial testing.
  • Participating in training programs and safety meetings to comply with regulatory standards.
  • Meeting the requirements of the Operator Qualification program to perform designated tasks safely.
  • Reviewing procedures to ensure adherence to company and industry standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records of time and regulatory reports.
  • Collaborating closely with the Area Supervisor to manage maintenance schedules and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Optimizing work processes to reduce overtime.
  • Executing preventative maintenance and ensuring facility safety through effective housekeeping practices.
  • Engaging in cross-training opportunities to enhance skills in various technical areas.
  • Utilizing precision tools and testing equipment as necessary.
  • Responding to operational emergencies as part of an emergency response team.
  • Conducting required regulatory inspections.
  • Coordinating with contractors for specialized services and supervising their activities.
  • Providing training and guidance to new Mechanical Technicians.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Technical certification or relevant training in a mechanical or energy-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience.
  • Experience with gas-fired, engine-driven compressors is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of reciprocating engines.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and regulatory codes.
  • Basic mathematical skills for practical applications.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and task completion.
  • Dependability and commitment to the role and team.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions and perform physical tasks.
  • Capability to lift and transport heavy equipment and tools.
  • Flexibility to respond to call-outs and work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to relocate or commute as required.
