Job Summary

The Surgery Scheduler is a critical role at Advanced Pain Care, responsible for coordinating all aspects of the surgical scheduling process. This includes scheduling patients for surgery, in-office procedures, follow-up appointments, and ensuring medical clearance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Schedule patients for surgery and complete necessary paperwork, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  2. Confirm patient demographics, surgery date and time, and medical diagnosis to ensure seamless coordination.
  3. Review instructions with patients prior to surgeries, including medications, allergies, labs, health history, pre-op and post-op treatment plans.
  4. Gather insurance information to confirm coverage and benefits, ensuring patients are adequately prepared.
  5. Ensure all paperwork is complete and on file for patients' surgeries, including consent forms.
  6. Respond to incoming telephone inquiries regarding surgery, providing clear and concise information.
  7. Schedule patients for follow-up appointments and other health assessments, prioritizing their care.
  8. Monitor the surgery schedule and work directly with physicians to coordinate appointments, ensuring efficient use of time.
  9. Coordinate medical clearance when necessary, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety.
  10. Adhere to all Advanced Pain Care policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; one year of prior surgery scheduling experience in a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, insurance verification, medical terminology, and surgical procedures.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This role is based in a medical office environment, requiring the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods. You will be required to move materials, weigh up to 30 lbs, and operate office equipment with ease.
