Unit Name: Med-Surg
Cost Center: 610, 613, 614, & 604
- Essential Skills: Punctuality, time management, organization, teamwork, positive attitude, effective communication, self-motivation.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Medical/Surgical nursing.
- Advanced Skills: Proficient assessment, prioritization, critical thinking, and time management abilities.
This unit handles a variety of procedures including:
- General Medical/Surgical procedures
- Post-catheterization care without intervention
- Laparoscopic appendectomies and cholecystectomies
- Thoracentesis and paracentesis
- Stable trauma cases
- Dialysis procedures
- Weekend Requirements: At least one weekend shift within a 4-week period.
- Floating Policy: Floating within the unit as needed.
- Bed Capacity: 54 beds, including a dedicated ortho/spine unit.
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 for RNs; 1:12-15 for PCTs.
- Staffing Structure: Unit secretaries available until 8 PM on weekdays.
- Equipment Used: Alaris pumps, telemetry, specialty beds, and more.
- Documentation System: Meditech
We require at least 1 year of RN experience, focusing on a diverse patient population including medical-surgical, orthopedic, and trauma patients.
Dress CodeGrey scrubs are required.
