Position: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

Shift: Day & Night Shifts

Location: Shreveport, LA

Contract Type: 13-Week Full-Time Contract (W2 Employee)

Compensation: Competitive Pay Rate

Schedule: Rotating weekends; work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week (mandatory). Night shift follows a 5/2 schedule.

Unit Information:

  • Beds: 9
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Covid Policy: Vaccine required, exemption process available

Patient Demographics: Focus on CVA/TIA requiring TPA administration; spinal surgical cases including ACDF and laminectomy. Stepdown unit overflow includes AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, and post-heart catheterization patients.

Patient Ratios:

  • RN: 1:3
  • CNA: 1:9

Required Certifications:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

Essential Skills: Proficiency in titratable gtts including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required for candidates without experience). Competence in chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, and CSF (lumbar) drains is preferred.

Compliance Requirement: Travelers must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.

Charting System: EMR: Meditech Expanse

IV Pumps: Alaris

Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Floating: Units include Stepdown and MedSurg with ratios of 1:5-6.
